about

These tunes were conceived and recorded in one afternoon in August 2003, while Frank and Steve were waiting for their bandmate Joe to show up to record some tunes for an ill-conceived Xmas album.

As Joe was quite late, Frank and Steve managed to record four tunes with little more than a (programmed) drum beat to inspire them.

On the 19th anniversary of its original release, we give you a finely-tuned remastered collection, augmented by two remixes created by Steven Bolinger.

"He finds himself home this Saturday eve... listening to the new Chigas and Bolinger... fresh off their unusual omission from the MTV VM Awards...

First track was nice, though I think the media player and its crazy, or is it creepy, visuals really accentuated what sunshine might look like in Britain, on acid... the track was tainted only when I realized that the singer would continue in this very natural sounding British accent. Clearly a fake in the anal cavity of music, as any real musician knows that even British citizens sing with a thick American non-specific accent. Thought of a little Syd Barrett and then thought not.

The second tune was enjoyed simply for the existence of possibly one of rocks' greatest singer/back up singer trade off lines... "some people say I'm into fruit/I think you're into fruit"... hate the next line, but what do you want from the smartest man in this room not wearing pants?

I was tiring and I feared the worst... thought a cover of "cups and cakes" might make its way in here somehow... as I saw the length of these gems was increasing like a stinking boner heading for the tomato patch... hippy sex it's not...

"You're Tuna" moved me, myself and I... brilliant... staying off, or trying(?), the tuna/pu**y reference repeatedly was refreshing... I want tuna... I hate tuna... I love the idea that the tantalizing smell of tuna made him want to trade. I love trading... schoolyard trading even more. "Snack Pack"! Damnit... just like a poop joke... never gets old. The accent was at a positive pitch upon the uttering of "peanut and butter..." ("PB and J... PB and J..." and "I smell tuna between your legs" is surprisingly perfect).

This song saved the world. I hate when that fish and chips singer tells this "Steve" to "take it" repeatedly throughout these tunes... he sounds like a timid male rapist whispering his wants to the first person in line at the three legged petting zoo.

The fourth song is a piece of twinkie-filler-shit. OK... I just heard the "I forgot to put holes in the fucking bottle" line... amusing... not enough... It's like a bad "break on through" meets "brown rice" from that Yanni-piece-of-shit. I'm actually digging the ominous music as it builds/rolls towards the end. Like the bass and key sounds... oh crap... is he gonna tell Steve to "take it" again…?

Fuck this band... play some Zep."
