"Begin Ending" was the name of the second band that I was in. I played guitar and keyboards, Bill Stobo (a.k.a Alec Stobo) was the front man, Peter Hoxell played lead guitar, Jeff Fitchhorn played drums, and Frank Ross played bass, later replaced by Jay Littrell at the beginning of 1987. In hindsight, we weren't very good (we were all very much still in development as musicians), but it was the first band that I was in where collectively we thought that we were going to "make it".

We played many shows in Redwood City at a pizza restaurant that featured live music on the weekends, and also occasionally played in San Francisco (to mostly empty houses). We initially formed in 1984 (originally as a cover band with a different singer), and stayed together until the band finally fizzled out at the beginning of 1988.

We recorded five songs in a professional studio, but other than those tracks (and many poorly recorded live shows), little else was recorded as an ensemble. The bulk of what was recorded during that time period were recordings I made on a Fostex X-15 4-Track that I bought with Frank Ross in 1986, trying to work out the arrangements of the tunes, and preparing tapes for Bill to use for writing lyrics.
